where the prairie meets the mountains

have you heard about the lonesome loser?

so. two weeks later and i'm back.

things are going full-swing here in california. it's still weird to think that i live in california...

the parents were here last weekend, and we made the whirlwind four-day trip to various
national parks in southern oregon and northern california. it was good to see them. it wasn't
so good that most of the 4 days they were here was spent in a rented mitsubishi mirage
flying down highways and byways. the redwoods were fucking amazing.

in just over a month, i'm making a trek for a rock and roll weekend in the pacific northwest
which will involve built to spill and somebody else in portland, either preceeded or followed by
radiohead and the beta band in central washington. i'm seeing radiohead, which makes me
fucking giddy like a school girl. giddy, i tell you.

one of my roomates and i watched "meeting people is easy" last night, which just made me
more excited. should be pretty damned amazing!

it's saturday, beautiful outside, and for some strange reason, i'm at work, sitting in front of a computer
goofing off on the web. what's that all about?

so.

it's been over a month since i've blogged.

highlights of the past month:

-spending quality time with some friends in south dakota
-a trip with ben to denver/boulder which involved: medeski martin and wood, lots of good food, good beer, and good fun
-a spring day at copper mountain with lots of tree riding and meeting some of noah's friends
-a spring evening soaking with noah and the aforementioned friends in the hot tub atop noah's garage.
-breakfast at the bagel shop with ashley and ben
-a night on the town in laramie with lori and her friends
-a visit to salt lake and environs, including a trip through american fork canyon and to timpanogos cave
-hanging out with jon and megan, learning all about how fucked-up mormons are
-an amazing drive through northwestern nevada with incredible scenery
-crossing off two of the four states i'd not yet visited in a matter of one day
-living in california

yup those are the highlights. i live in california now. on a clear day i can see amazing views of mt. shasta, mt. mclaughlin
and the rim of crater lake - which is fucking incredible.

i'm not living alone for the first time in over five years. it was a pretty tough transition, but the roomates both seem very liveable.

i hope to update this more often, but as my internet access is now restricted to work, i'm not 100% sure it'll happen. but
i hope it will yup. so for the 2 of you that look here every once in a while, know that i'll do something about having more for
you to look at.
